I have been using GNU EMACS for the past ten years and still enjoy using it. It is my favorite editor because of its innumerable features that it has. Though one can write simple text using EMACS, it is also possible to write programs in C, LATEX, Python, LISP, etc. using the same editor. One does not need to recall and retype using EMACS, it automatically helps to do that by its different modes.
