The award ceremony for the winning videos will take place at The Free Knowledge, Free Technology (FKFT) Conference in Barcelona, which will take place from the 15th to 17th July 2008. The documentaries will be screened during the two days of the conference, and also made available on the SELF Platform as part of the SELF collection of educational materials on Free Software and Open Standards.
SELF is an international project aiming to provide a platform for the collaborative sharing and creation of free educational and training materials. It is based on Free Software, which in contrast to proprietary software can freely be used, copied, studied, modified and redistributed. Free Software offers the freedom to learn and to teach without any proprietary barriers – the basic requirement for the self-enabled human in the information society. Studio Totov with Cintia Paz and others have created the winning contribution to the SELF Project Open Documentary Concept. Their submission is called Cut the Circle and is available for anyone to view and change in accordance with the license of the documentary!
